Well, we’ve done it. We made it through the holiday season.
This is a huge accomplishment because this particular holiday season was a little rough, what with omicron and all the various snowstorms and Britney Spears (rightfully) feuding with her sister Jamie Lynn, etc.
Not that things are looking tremendously better now, but at least we’ve put Christmas and New Years behind us and can cautiously move on to what’s really important:
Eating chips and dip while watching amazing athletes compete in the Olympics – oops I mean Valentine’s Day.
As long time readers know, I’ve never been the hugest fan of Valentine’s Day, for many of the same reasons Michael Moscovitz outlines in Valentine Princess, The Princess Diaries Volume VII 3/4. (Yes, I’m literally copying and pasting this from last year’s blog entry. It’s a pandemic, people. We need to do what we can to stay sane, and for some of us that means copying and pasting lines from last year’s blog and also watching every episode of Netflix’s All of Us Are Dead in one day.)
But, with intensive rom-com therapy, I’ve come to learn to enjoy both Galentine’s Day, February 13, and even Valentine’s Day a little more each year.
This Valentine’s Day, I’m even doing an actual LIVE IN PERSON EVENT. You can join me at 6PM at Key West’s Tropic Cinema where I will be discussing my writing career and also showing a screening of The Princess Diaries movie, 100% free, courtesy of the Friends of the Key West Library Speakers Series. Register for the event here.
There will be books for sale at the event, and I’ll be happy to sign them before the film. Please note that per my request, the cinema’s Safer Screening Tuesday policies will be in place.
If you can’t make it to the event above (and I believe it might be close to sold out already. Sorry, there is limiting seating due to Covid regulations), I have another LIVE IN PERSON EVENT at the Marathon Library (Marathon, FL) at 5:30 pm on March 15. No popcorn or movie at the Marathon event, but they are giving away a limited number of free books!
If you’re still looking for signed/personalized books from me, don’t forget that Books and Books Key West has a huge Meg Cabot collection. Just fill your cart online, jot down how you’d like the books personalized in the Comment section, and they’ll make sure your books get delivered to you promptly (who knows? If you order today, you might even get them in time for Galentine’s Day)!
Since everyone is asking what I’m working on now, I feel like I should be honest…I’m working on stuff I can’t tell you about because it hasn’t been formerly announced yet. More books for adults, but also for kids. When I’m allowed to, I’ll share.
Meanwhile, work on The Mediator Netflix series continues! Yes, Jesse and Suze are still getting their chance to stream. So far Shadowland continues to be the title for the first film installment, just like with the book series. I can’t really tell you more than that, except that . . . it’s great!
In the meantime, there are so many great, funny, romantic books out there if you’re looking for something to lift your spirits during this (so far) dumpster fire of a decade. I BEG of you to listen to fun, informative podcasts like Fated Mates, or these, or visit romance-centric bookstores to get recommendations on books that will help you (mentally) escape.
Have a happy (and SAFE) Galentine’s/Valentine’s! Stay warm, and remember:
Spring is almost here!
XOXO
More later.
Much love,
Meg
