Road Trip Q and A
I’m on the road promoting my new book, Overbite! And I’ve got some answers to some of your most burning questions:
Q: Why is your new book called Overbite?
A: Because in dating the Prince of Darkness while simultaneously working for an organization which is seeking to eradicate all demon life forms on earth, the heroine, Meena, may have bitten off more than she can chew.
Q: Where are you right now?
A: In Maryland for Saturday’s livestream event with Nora Roberts, to which ALL OF YOU CAN COME!
Q: I do not understand the words coming out of your mouth.
A: I’m serious. You can come by clicking here. And you can buy books remotely by clicking on the buy books button!
Q: Can I just go to the book signing at Nora’s store?
Here’s the address:
TURN THE PAGE
18 N. Main St.
Boonsboro, MD 21713
(Contact: Janeen Solberg Main Phone: 301-432-4588 firstname.lastname@example.org)
I’ve never been livestreamed before (that I know of. Who knows about some of those airport bathrooms)! So I can’t wait!
Q: In a battle between transformers and vampires, who would win?
A: This is a very good question. Maybe I should discuss it with Barbara Vey, of Publishers Weekly, during the Romance Writers of America Literacy signing:
Q: Speaking of the Romance Writers of America conference, was Nora Roberts, the queen of romance, there?
A: No! She couldn’t make it! But I got to bring out the Rita (it was heavy!) for Sharon Sala, the winner of the Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award!
Q: So how WAS the Romance Writers of America conference?
A: OMG, so much fun, thanks for asking!
Not only did I get to see readers from EVERYWHERE, I got to hang out with so many fun authors, and of course host the Rita/Golden Heart awards! Here’s a little photo essay about it:
First there was the Literacy signing. So many books! Smart Bitches Who Love Trashy Books did another video about it, which rocked, as ALWAYS (I am towards the end).
Here are some amazing people who helped with all the long lines (with indefatigable good cheer)! LOVE THEM!
Some of you who follow me on Twitter/Facebook might recall I had some problems choosing between two dresses. So I appealed to you for help!
I gave THIS to a member of Team BLUE to show my gratitude for helping me to decide:
(Though it wasn’t that hard. The red dress looked pretty awful on me.)
The evening wasn’t about clothes, though, of course, it was about all the amazing writers who contributed their time and efforts to providing us all with great books to transport us away from our own humdrum lives to more exciting (and romantic) ones! And that’s why I love RWA!
But I had a hard time sending that dress back!
Q: How was tea at the PLAZA????
A: I can’t believe I haven’t had time to blog about this. A week ago Sunday, I was so excited to have tea at the Plaza Hotel in NYC with Samantha Tai, her mom, Debbie, and her friends (and co-workers) Kelly and Helen. It was so much fun! Samantha was the top-bidder in an auction (sponsored by Brenda Novak) to raise money for diabetes research!
While waiting for our table, we got our photo next to Eloise, from the famous books by Kay Thompson (illustrated by Hillary Knight). Eloise is the most famous resident of the Plaza!
Then we sat down to a delicious tea service in the elegant Palm Court. There were fancy sandwiches, scones (with jam and clotted cream), and the most delectable cakes and cookies. (They even had a gluten-free version for me!) And, of course, what would tea at the Plaza be without champagne (with our tea)?
Here we are getting ready to indulge – just like Princess Mia (who learned she was a princess at the Plaza. She didn’t get champagne though)!
After tea, we wandered through the gorgeous Plaza lobby (recently spotted there: Justin and Selena), and I signed books for Samantha. (She’s so generous. She is giving some of them away to her friends!)
Samantha is a YA librarian, and like all YA librarians, the sweetest sweetheart in the WORLD. I’m so glad to have met her and her mom and friends. If there were more Samanthas in the world, it would truly be a better place.
Q: So Samantha isn’t a vampire, unlike author Christopher Moore?
A: I never said author Christopher Moore is a vampire! I said at one time I thought he MIGHT be one, because his books lowered my husband’s blood pressure! Read this to get my full statement on the matter! (But, in summary, I love Chris’s books.)
Q: So where are you going after Nora’s bookstore?
A: Where am I NOT going?

And if it’s Tuesday, July 12, you best believe I’ll be in Cedar Rapids, Iowa (at 7PM):

Main Phone: 314-994-3300×2280
Will I be more places after that? Why, yes, I will. But I don’t want to give away anymore spoilers. You can click here to find out the details (Albuquerque, Seattle, and Miami)!
Q: Meg, how do you do it all?
A: No one can do it all. It’s ridiculous to suggest that anyone can or even should. Everyone needs lots and lots of help. This is how the world goes around! By employing people who are good at the things at which we ourselves do not excel (for instance, I cannot drive. Instead, I get people who are good at driving to drive me everywhere), we keep the economy going (and I prevent people from getting hurt by my bad driving).
So don’t feel guilty about not being able to do it all! I don’t know anyone who does.
Now I’m going to get some sleep before my signing at Nora’s bookstore tomorrow (she has her own bookstore AND her own inn! SHE does it all! But even SHE has a little help . . . and though you didn’t ask, I’m just letting you know, my favorite books of hers are Born in Fire, Born in Ice, and Born in Shame, about three sisters who find romance, and their true callings. Perfection)!
