Meg's Diary

Lilly Night

Looking for a stylish spot to sip a cocktail in your favorite Lilly Pulitzer print?

Then you won't want to miss LILLY NIGHT! Hosted every Thursday in the The Living Room, 4:30-10:00PM, you can mingle with Palm Beach's posh and preppy and enjoy whimsical, Lilly-inspired cocktails, award-winning cuisine, and lively entertainment. Forget your Lilly at home? Don't worry, the Resort's Gift Shop is fully stocked with Lilly's iconic, signature apparel for men, women, and children.

That's what the note that was slid under my hotel room door last night said! I'm bummed because I'm checking out today, so I'm going to miss Lilly Night!

I get a kick out of Lilly Pulitzer designs, which, if paired with the right shoes and accessories (i.e. glittery), can be totally fierce, as Tyra would say.

In fact, this invitation (which I am unable to accept), is especially timely, since I feature Lilly vintage wear quite a bit in QUEEN OF BABBLE. When I told Ashley (who works down at the Lilly in Key West—be sure to drop in and say hi to her) about this, she sent me a book signed by LILLY PULITZER herself!

My favorite line for Lilly's Wikipedia page is this:
In the course of working at the juice stand, Lilly found that squeezing juice made a mess of her clothes. Seeking to camouflage the juice stains, Lilly asked her dressmaker to design a sleeveless shift dress made of bright, colorful printed cotton. Lilly loved the dress that was produced for her, and it would later become her “Classic Shift Dress.”

And I thought book touring was hard. Imagine what it must have been like back at that juice stand. Talk about bugs–YUCK!

Still, it's hard to complain about touring when you are staying in a hotel that offers Lilly Night.

Anyway, big thanks are due, since all of you have put QUEEN OF BABBLE on the New York Times Bestseller List (extended) at #27—the highest any of my adult books have ever climbed! So, thank you!

And thanks to all of you who came to see me at the West Palm Beach library last night, taking advantage of the free parking. If you weren't there, well, you missed out: there were sandwiches.

You still have a chance to check out my shoes
tonight in Miami at
8 p.m.

Feel free to wear your Lilly, if you've got it. There are no fashion judgments at Meg Cabot signings. No cocktails, either. But I promise there'll be lively entertainment!

More later.

Much love,

Meg
