Frequently Asked Questions
So I'm taking a break from my elephant eating (see earlier entry, below) to answer a few of your most frequently asked questions. Please pay attention to the answers as you WILL be quizzed on them later.
***Meg, why can't I find your new book Princess Present in any stores? I've looked everywhere!***
Princess Present is a special Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanza/Genovian Holiday book. It is not the holiday season yet, so some stores may not be putting out their holiday books until after Halloween. Never fear, PP will be in stores soon enough.
***Meg, why isn't there anything about Princess Present on your website?***
There will be. Very, very soon.
***Meg, why can't I find the Princess Diaries Engagement Calendar at Barnes and Noble or Borders?***
Because Barnes and Noble and Borders chose not to sell the Princess Diaries Engagement Calendar. Apparently, the buyers there feel that book-related calendars do not sell well. You can find the calendars in independent and Walden bookstores, and also online at Amazon (and even Barnesandnoble.com).
***Meg, will there be more Princess Diaries books after Book 6?***
Yes. There will be a Princess Diaries book coming out every March/April until you stop buying them, or I die. Whichever comes first.
***Meg, why does Princess Present take place in December of Mia's sophomore year, but Princess Diaries 6 takes place in September of Mia's sophomore year? Shouldn't Princess Diaries 6 come before Princess Present, chronologically?***
You are making my head hurt.
***If Mia and Michael are together in Princess Present, and it takes place after Book 6, that means Mia and Michael don't break up in Book 6, right?***
They could if there was a rift in the space-time continuum, as often happens in fiction.
***Meg, I like this boy, should I ask him out?***
***But my friends–***
I don't care. Ask him out. You will always regret it if you don't. The worst he can do is say no.
***Meg, is Raven still playing Sam in the All American Girl movie?***
Yes, last I heard. The writer is always the last to know anything, though.
***Meg, was that you in Princess Diaries 2, in the slumber party scene? I thought I saw you. Did you have a cameo?***
***Meg, are you evacuating for Hurricane Jeanne?***
No. The lower Keys are safe (so far). I am watching Bryan Norcross on Channel 4 and if he says I'll be OK, I believe him.
***Meg, what are you watching on TV these days? Besides Bryan Norcross on the Channel 4 news?***
I'm so glad you asked. Here are the shows I've been watching, and my ratings for them, on the Tiara Rating scale, four tiaras being best:
Rescue Me on F/X starring Denis Leary:
Three tiaras. I love this show about an alcoholic firefighter trying to win back his wife and cope with the aftermath of 9/11. It is on much too late for some of you and also contains bad words and sex, so you might want ask your parents if you can watch this first.
Veronica Mars on UPN:
It's too soon to say about this show, but the pilot was pretty good. It's about a teenaged girl who used to be popular but now she's not. Oh, and she's a detective. Her mom is missing and her best friend was killed and it looks like the two things might be connected. Two tiaras for now.
The Mountain on WB:
It's too soon to say about this show, too, but it has lots of cute boys and snowboarding, so how can it be bad? It's about a boy who inherits his grandfather's ski resort but doesn't really want it. Two tiaras for now.
Lost on NBC:
So all these people crash on this island and a bunch of them die and there's something in the trees that eats pilots. Also a dog running around. It's too soon to say about this show. I have a feeling there may be sleestacks in it, and that “Lost” is a satirical title due to the fact that the people are stranded in the “Land of the Lost” from the excellent Sid and Marty Kroft show of the 70s. We can only hope Holly will show up. Two tiaras for now.
Extreme Home Makeover on whatever channel it's on, starring that carpenter from Trading Spaces (Ty, or whatever. I don't know how to spell his name):
Three tiaras. I'm hooked on giving the needy giant plasma TVs.
Gilmore Girls on WB:
Three and a half tiaras. I'm not giving them four because there aren't enough cute boys on this show anymore, and Dean doesn't count since he's married. If it is true that Naked Guy is going to become Rory's love interest this season, I will bump it to four.
Degrassi Next Generation on the N:
Three tiaras. More rock and roll song contests, and less comas, please!!!!
Joan of Arcadia on CBS:
I would like to rate this show, but I can't because it was pre-empted here in Florida for Hurricane Jeanne coverage. Let me know if the premiere was any good.
Choose or Lose: Sex, Votes, and Higher Power on MTV
Actually, this will be on September 29 at 10:30PM (EST), and then repeated a lot. I haven't seen it yet, but it looks good. I know when it comes to this election, a lot of people are all, “Iraq! The economy! Terrorism!” And these are all important issues. But to me personally, there is no issue more important than women's rights, in particular women's health and reproductive issues and rights, which are constantly being threatened and/or not perceived as important as men's health and reproductive issues and rights. Watch Sex, Votes, and Higher Power and see just what the candidates have to say about this and other issues that might just directly impact YOUR next trip to your doctor's office (if you are too young to vote, make your parents and older siblings watch it).
***Meg, I really want to be a writer when I grow up, do you have any tips for me?***
Yes, go to medical school.
But since you won't listen to me, go to the Writing Forum of www.megcabotbookclub.com and read the tips I've posted there.
***Meg, why do you look so different in real life than you do in the photos on your website?***
Because those photos are really old, and I hate getting my picture taken, so there aren't any new ones, except the ones you've seen on this blog.
***Meg, why don't you write more about your husband in your blog?***
Because he is very private and wishes to remain anonymous.
***Meg, why don't you update your blog more?***
Because I am so busy writing books and being a mom to a one-eyed cat. And right now, I'm busy packing for my UK tour. I'll be gone from September 30-October 13. I don't know if I'll be able to blog along the way, since I'm not sure I'll have time and/or Internet access.
But I will definitely blog when I get back.
***Meg, when is your next live chat?***
Thanks for asking! Join me and author Mariah Fredericks this Monday night, September 27, at 7PM EST for a live chat about Mariah's FANTASTIC books, The True Meaning of Cleavage and Head Games, at www.megcabotbookclub.com. And there's still time to register to win copies of both books on the contest page! Sign up now!
Well, that's it for now. More later.
