Goodbye 2009!
Is anyone really sorry to see 2009 go? If you ask me, 2009 acted like a bad houseguest, staying way too long, and leaving only chaos in its wake: Too many people died too young; too many married men proved to be cheating horndogs; and too many babies were found running around along the side […]
What A Girl Wants
Did you get what you wanted for Christmas? I didn’t. Well, not everything. I wanted a Pomeranian puppy, a pedicab, and a new swimming pool with a built-in outdoor Jacuzzi and slide (like the one they have at Atlantis in the Bahamas, complete with sharks). But then I read this essay in the New York […]
25 Things You Don’t Know About…
…Meg and Christmas! 1. My favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story. Luckily for me, they show this movie all day on December 25. 2. But I also love It’s A Wonderful Life. 3. And Die Hard!
What It’s Not Too Late To Get People:
I know. This is the time when I should be telling you to get people books this holiday season. But you already know this, of course! And if you read this blog regularly, you’ve already bought all the books I’ve recommended throughout the year, and wrapped them up to give to others. So now I’m […]
Fa La La La Lifetime
So I turned in Insatiable and have been incapable of doing anything since but watch TV. I know I have a husband with a broken ankle who needs me. I know Christmas is coming and there’s holiday decorating (and shopping) to do. I know I have other deadlines.
What I Did In NYC
I went to New York last week to do some non-writing related work. It was super fun! For instance, I got to meet Jane Pauley, basically one of my all-time idols: She co-hosted the Today Show, deputy anchored the NBC Nightly News, then co-hosted Dateline NBC all years before Katie Couric did….
Shadow of a Doubt—Best Movie of All Time?
One of the Best Movies of All Time has been on a lot lately: Shadow of a Doubt I know some of you are probably like, um, no, sorry, I don’t watch old black and white movies.
Change…
Some of us love experiencing new things, while some of us (okay…me) prefer the comfort of the familiar. Example: When my best friend told me on the bus to school that her dad had bought this machine that played something called “video tapes”—movies that you could watch at home!— insisting that this was going to […]
Put Your Big Girl Panties On and Deal With It
Could this have been a crazier week? First Tiger’s wife went Carrie Underwood on him! Then my husband took a swan dive and broke his ankle!
Insatiable
Busted! I was kind of trying to keep a low profile about my adult Summer 2010 release because a) I’m still tweaking it (it’s kind of hard to finish a book when your husband breaks his ankle!), and
