Bike Accidents and Book Giveaways

The Valentine Day Contest is over! Just letting you know because for some reason I’m still getting entries even though the contest ended at midnight on Valentine’s Day.

Also just to let you know, I think it’s likely that due to the Friday the 13th bike accident sustained by He Who Shall Not Be Named In This Blog (see my Twitter page
for more info, but briefly, he crashed on his bike while trying to avoid being hit by a car, broke his elbow, and got a little banged up, but is otherwise fine), winners will not be notified, since I am now pulling double duty as a nurse.

So if you won, you will simply get a surprise book in the mail! How fun is that? That’s because I printed out all the haikus I liked, gave them to the invaluable Nancy, and said, “Make sure as many of these people as you can get books! Also: HELP! My husband broke his arm!”

So until the books run out, that’s how it will go. Sorry about it, but we are operating at Defcon 1 here due to HWSNBNITB’s inability to feed, bathe, or drive himself (this is when my not having a driver’s license really sucks, since he’s going to have a lot of doctor’s appointments soon).

All hands are now needed for helping HWSNBNITB, not alerting prize winners of their status, especially since I’m leaving for Chicago (HWSNBNITB has assured me he’ll be fine while I’m gone, and since people HAVE paid to attend this event, I feel bad canceling….Plus, HWSNBNITB will be well looked after by Nancy and Nurse Katie–Captain Bob’s wife–in my absence. Even Judy Blume has offered to pitch in while I’m gone)!

Speaking of Chicago, for those of you planning to attend the signings this week in Illinois, I will still be attending, but be aware, the VENUE HAS CHANGED:

Come if you can!

Well, that’s all I have time to write for now. I’m needed by the invalid who can’t really do anything without assistance because he’s left-handed and that’s the arm he broke (I’m left-handed too but in the second grade I broke my left wrist and was in a cast for six weeks and learned how to do everything right handed as well, so now I’m almost totally ambidextrous. HWSNBNITB may not know it now, but he soon will be, too)!

More later.

Much love,

Meg
