Meg's Diary

ANSWERS!

People have been emailing me with tons of questions about the new books (and demanding that I write Harry Potter's Honeymoon at Hotel Erotica Cabo). Here are some answers:

Why are there two different covers for How To Be Popular?

There aren't. There is one cover…and a silver foil slip cover. You'll see when the book appears in stores on July 25th. I just got the first copy, hot off the presses…and here it is, in all it's shiny glory!

You can tell Henrietta is impressed.

But wait. It gets better.

The silver foil cover only goes PART of the way up. You can take it off to reveal….

Another cover! With all this writing on it! The writing contains spoilers for what's going to happen on the fourth season of The OC—I mean, tips on how to get popular.

Shhh…Henrietta's checking out the stylin' end papers, and trying to figure out how SHE can get popular….

While she does that, I'll answer more questions for you:

When will you post a sneak peek of HOW TO BE POPULAR on your blog?

Soon! Like, in the next two weeks.

Why did you change the title of TOMMY SULLIVAN IS A FREAK to PANTS ON FIRE?

I think the original title was misleading. Too many readers seemed to think the book was told from a guy's point of view. As if, people! Although Tommy Sullivan is still in the book, and the phrase TOMMY SULLIVAN IS A FREAK is still what starts all the trouble for our poor heroine, PANTS ON FIRE is a better title, because the book really is about a certain young lady who

1) lies a lot (she can't help it), and

2) is—how can I put this?–a little bit horny (she can't help that, either)!

So PANTS ON FIRE just fits better. Because hers totally are.

How did the title PHAT CHICK get turned into IT'S NOT OVER TIL THE SIZE 12 CHICK SINGS?

I don't know. Honestly, I only make up about half my titles. The rest my editors, with help from Sales and Marketing, make up. I actually think they do a great job. If you are an aspiring author, here's a tip: Don't get too attached to your titles, because they will probably be changed.

And that's not necessarily a bad thing!

Which comes first chronologically, VALENTINE PRINCESS or PRINCESS ON THE BRINK?

Valentine Princess, then Princess on the Brink.

Are you going to write any more books in the Mediator series?

I'm afraid not. Suze needs a rest. The 6th Book, TWILIGHT, is the last book. Look for 1-800-WHERE-R-U #5, MISSING YOU, in December 2006 (my next paranormal), and JINX, another paranormal stand alone, in September 2007 (along with the Avalon High mangas next summer). After that, there will hopefully be some new paranormals coming out, but I have to finish writing them…and then find someone to publish them, of course!

Will the US ever have Meg Cabot Ambassadors, like the UK does?

Yes, actually! Stay tuned to this website to find out how you can become a Meg-A-Reader, and get free Meg Cabot book-related stuff in exchange for telling all of your friends about them (telling your friends about the books, I mean)!

Stuff on my cat? How about BOOKS ON MY CAT!!!

Oops! It's always funny till someone gets mad….

Wait! Henrietta! Come back!

More later.

Much love,

Meg
